Nurses, pack your bags and leave Philippines!

Why would you stay in a country who won't even appreciate your contribution in healthcare and society? Much worse, will even be the one to degrade, corrupt and exploit the noble profession which we all have patiently achieved through hard work, sweat, blood and tears!

If you are thinking and relying on the Philippine government to uplift our profession, well think again! Sadly, our own country who should have been looking after our welfare, raising our dignity as nurses, is also the one who can't even appreciate us.

So why would you want to stay in a country who can't even give you the salary and benefits which you truly deserved. If you go to different countries, like here in UAE, Filipino nurses are being praised for being the ones who give the outmost, highest quality of care to patients and are the most preferred and demanded by almost all healthcare institutions. Employment conditions may vary from different institutions but salary/benefits is much higher/better compared to what nurses are receiving in the Philippines. It worth every hour you have worked for and there's even better opportunities waiting.

People may judge us for not choosing to stay and serve our own fellowmen, but they should try to be nurses, walk in our shoes and understand the challenges we are all facing. We didn't pay for expensive tuition fees just be given low salaries on workplaces where we are overworked and underpaid. We didn't endure the burden and fulfill every requirement (license/trainings) our profession demanded us just to be taken for granted and exploited later on. Let those who don't know anything about our profession accuse us of being not patriotic enough to stay in our beloved country Philippines! Just let them. What do you expect them anyway, even the most honorable outgoing PRESIDENT PNOY won't even care! Thank you Sir anyway, for leaving a legacy to nurses we won't ever forget, and for making those nurses voted for you regret their decision before you go out of your position, you have clearly made them realize that.

So nurses, who will take care of our profession? Only us NURSES! We, ourselves alone. Let's start in ourselves because we are the only ones who can uplift it. If we won't be appreciated in our own country; let us all leave Philippines, go abroad where opportunities are better, salaries are higher and nurses are more appreciated. Unfortunately, our beloved Philippines has nothing to offer us!

I'm glad, I already did!
