It's More Fun to be a Student Nurse!

Image
Yesterday is the end of our duty for this week, though what happened is far from what we expected. Supposedly, it's our CCU duty, but because of our own stubbornness, it was being deferred just in time we were ready for it, good for us but it still has disadvantages because we still have to be rotated in that area later or in the last weeks of the semester. Anyway, we still enjoyed our duty even though they divided our block and inserted us to the different area units as an alternative solution because we don't have a designated place to go. I was assigned to be the team leader for a particular block having their duty in Med-Surg area. It was fun, I even became the boss! At the end of our duty, we had a quiz and I included a question asking what did they learn from the duty as an evaluation and learning summary. I got amused with their answers and thought of sharing it.   These are the things they've learned... ... . "I have ...

Factors that Contribute to Student's Success

Image
During our program "Seniors' Presentation" yesterday, we had a very inspiring and dynamic speaker no other than Dr. Nestor Rilloma. He's a writer and works at Philippine Publishing House (PPH), I wasn't able to take  note of his credentials but I can say, he's a man that has something to say. He talked about SUCCESS that's why I became interested and thought that it's something worth sharing. So I took down notes and here's the summary of what he talked about.     According to him, there are components that brought about a STUDENT'S SUCCESS. It is not a single factor but a combination of a lot of factors. Having gone far to what we are now (graduating students), our success were contributed by what he enumerated as the 7 P's. Here are they.. Parental Premonition . It's the desire of every parent to have the best for their children. Parents always want a bright and secured future for their children, thus sending them to ...

It's all About Choice

Image
I've been thinking on what to write for today and remembered my reflections about CHOICE, which I've posted in my Facebook wall 2 months ago. I've attended one of the sessions of our spiritual rehabilitation in dorm and that was one of the topics being discussed. The pastor showed us few videos which we had to make a response and share it with the group. I wasn't given a chance to speak and express my ideas in that particular subject so I just wrote it as my shout-out and posted it. It was one of the pastor's message that had a great impact on me and ever since, I would always think and carefully decide before I make my choices . My reflection goes like this..      All our actions has its own consequences, we choose to do things out of our inner desire to have more of the best things in this world, but sometimes, by making those choices that we think are best for us, we don't realize that we are making a mistake and even losses our own...

Lessons from a Little Girl

Image
I just had my duty in Pediatrics unit and we lost a patient. All I can say is that, we had a tough day! It was one of the most unexpected circumstances that are really hard to deal with. Though what happened today is not really related to me, I still can't help but be affected.       Losing a child must be really painful for a parent and seeing those hurt in their faces was indescribable. Seeing their pains, sorrow, agony, it was really distressing. We can't help but to empathize with them as they cry helplessly and scream out all their miseries. A very distressing moment when they had to accept the fact that their precious child is already gone. I just can't help but pray for the parents and loved-ones of that unfortunate child. At the age of 3, she passed away. Such a beautiful little girl yet wasn't able to live long enough. She would've been the next president of this country when she grow up, or...

It's a Guy Hangout

Image
I'm one of those girls who enjoys being with the company of guys. It's not that I'm a lesbian or member of the growing population of the third sex, but I just can go along well with them which I  think is one of my good assets. I'm a sociable person which means, I love hanging out and having fun. Let me just share with you one of our hangout sprees, Me together with the Boys.    Most of my guy friends are basketball enthusiast and most of them are good players. I didn't have an idea  when they started their basketball hang-out but they usually set it every Friday when they don't have much to do.  Sucat is where they always play, they rent a basketball covered-court in one of the villages and play for 2-3 hours until they sweat out. We usually go there with 13 of us (mostly guys) and travel for almost an hour before we reach the place. Before playing, they organize thei...

My Preferred Own Style of Learning

Image
This is one of those days when I feel so tired and blown-out at the same time. I just took a 300-items exam today and my mind is still on a derange mode. It was really a nerve-racking and mind-boggling exam I never wanted to take for the rest of my life. Anyway, I'm still having my hangover of what I did last night and if you’re gonna ask me what it is, it's my favorite sleep-depriving part of cramming and procrastinating the night before exam. Well, thank God I'm still alive and kicking and was able to overcome one of those major stressors I am facing right now. At least, I can now sleep soundly in my bed without thinking about it. Anyways, so much for that. I would just give you some of my insights on what I perceive about REAL STUDYING I was once told that if you develop good study habits, you'll definitely get good satisfying grades. Do you believe so? Yeah, I also believe in that. I even tried it, I set it on my daily schedule, I posted it on my wall (STUDY! S...

It All Started with 21 Dreams

Image
I just come from church this morning and I've been thinking on what to do for the rest of the day. It’s Sabbath (well I'm a Seventh-day Adventist and we go to church every Saturday) and I'm bored (as usual) so maybe that's the reason why I thought of making this blog. As you know, I have this passion in writing about a lot of things so maybe this is a good start for me to fulfill my so called "Dream" of being a writer.        When I was in my second year in college, I've thought of making a list of my dreams/ambitions and come up with 21 statements that I've posted at the back of the door in my dorm locker. It served as my motivation in studying and in dealing in life's ups and downs as well, whenever I'm having a "meltdown" or experiencing life's adversities, I would just look at all my dreams and think of not giving up. For years, it has been my goal to fulfill all those "dreams" and until now, I can ...
