It All Started with 21 Dreams
I just come from church this morning and I've been thinking on
what to do for the rest of the day. It’s Sabbath (well I'm a Seventh-day
Adventist and we go to church every Saturday) and I'm bored (as usual) so
maybe that's the reason why I thought of making this blog. As you know, I have
this passion in writing about a lot of things so maybe this is a good start for
me to fulfill my so called "Dream" of being a writer.
When I was in my
second year in college, I've thought of making a list of my dreams/ambitions
and come up with 21 statements that I've posted at the back of the door in my
dorm locker. It served as my motivation in studying and in dealing in life's
ups and downs as well, whenever I'm having a "meltdown" or
experiencing life's adversities, I would just look at all my dreams and think
of not giving up. For years, it has been my goal to fulfill all those
"dreams" and until now, I can say it’s the reason of my
existence.
Here is the list
of my 21 Dreams/Goals
I will be a
captain ball.
I will be a Magna
Cum Laude.
I will be a musician.
I will be a nurse.
I will be a
doctor.
I will be an
environmentalist.
I will be a
teacher.
I will be a writer.
I will be an
agriculturist.
I will tour around
the world.
I will be a great
leader.
I will be an
author.
I will be a
missionary.
I will be a
soldier.
I will build a
mansion.
I will have a car.
I will have my own
resort.
I will learn
karate.
I will be saved in
heaven.
I don't know where
I got the idea for writing those statements, I mean it’s just a spur of the moment
and I just wrote down whatever it is that came to my mind, but I believe that
the existence of those ideas rooted in my subconscious and I just follow what
my mind says of what I really wanted to do with my life. Maybe, it's the
product of what I observed from my environment and it formed in my brain and
pooped, it became my ideas and became me and what I want.
As of now, I'm in
my senior year in college, taking BS Nursing and soon to be graduating.
Evaluating my life, of what I did for the last two years since I formulated
those statements, I can proudly say I already fulfilled one of them,
at least. :D I became a CAPTAIN BALL of our school's varsity women's volleyball
team and I must say it was a great accomplishment. After those 3 years of
hardships, training and commitment, I got what I wanted and toiled for. I also
started to become a musician, I asked for a guitar on my 18th birthday and
bought a bamboo flute and started to play, though still learning how to make
good music. Moreover, 3 months from now, I may have what I'm aiming for, to be
a NURSING GRADUATE, to be a nurse exactly..!
Realizing what
I've been through to fulfill all these, I learned to take it step-by-step. I
can't make it all fulfill at the same time (I'm not superwoman), but what is
important is, I'm taking steps to make all my dreams come true. Whenever I take
steps, I don't think of failing, I always keep in mind that I won't make it if I
won't have to try it and so, I'm here now, trying to be a WRITER. If I can't
make a book and be an author, at least I am the author and writer of my own
stories, MY LIFE. Apart from it, I still have my diary.
One more thing, though
I have a lot of dreams to fulfill, I always live by my principle since I’m in
my high school years, which is “Put God first in everything you do and success
will surely follow you” and my favorite verse, “I can do all things through
Christ who gives me strength”. -Phil. 4:13
