My Preferred Own Style of Learning
This is one of those days when I feel so tired and blown-out at
the same time. I just took a 300-items exam today and my mind is still on a
derange mode. It was really a nerve-racking and mind-boggling exam I never
wanted to take for the rest of my life. Anyway, I'm still having my hangover of
what I did last night and if you’re gonna ask me what it is, it's my favorite
sleep-depriving part of cramming and procrastinating the night before exam.
Well, thank God I'm still alive and kicking and was able to overcome one of
those major stressors I am facing right now. At least, I can now
sleep soundly in my bed without thinking about it. Anyways, so much for that. I
would just give you some of my insights on what I perceive about REAL STUDYING
I was once told that if you develop good study habits, you'll
definitely get good satisfying grades. Do you believe so? Yeah, I also believe
in that. I even tried it, I set it on my daily schedule, I posted it on my wall
(STUDY! STUDY! STUDY!) as in bold and in capital letters, and I kept on
reminding myself, but guess what? It’s just didn't work for me. All my efforts
were just put into vain and I ended up doing the same thing. If you’re
wondering how I survived my soon-to-end fruitful years in college of being a
nursing student, then you might want to check this out.
These are 3 simple
yet powerful styles that might help you in your studies.
Style No. 1: Study on your own. What do I mean with that? Well, here it is. Discussions in classroom are quite boring and sometimes, you won’t be able absorb everything what they say, right? So if I were you, instead of listening to your professor and indulge yourself into sleep, just read you’re book and understand what it says while your teacher discusses it. You’ll understand more of the lesson and there’s a greater chance of it retaining on your brain if you yourself will read it.
Style
No. 2: Take things lightly. Putting too much stress on yourself will not help you in
your studies. If you don’t feel like studying, then do what you want. Don’t
force yourself to study if you really not into it. Sleep if you must, take naps
and relax for a bit before you start studying again. There will always come a
time that you won’t feel like studying especially if exams are just approaching
and you still have plenty of time. It’s okay to procrastinate but make sure to
prepare yourself for an adrenaline rush if it’s just a day or night before the
actual day comes.
Style
No. 3: Have a positive outlook. This is the most important thing that every one of us must
have. It’s staying calm and optimistic even when we failed to do the things we
have to do, even if you weren't able to study for a major exam or
forgot to do one of your major requirements or failed in one of your subjects.
Don’t blame yourself or feel bad about it, that’s all part of a student life
and not yet the end of the world. Always look at the positive side of
everything and when everything all else failed, God is still on our side.
Thanks for posting tips on how to study properly. I also have blog at wordpress but it's not about my life and personal habits. This will help alot especially to us, college students to take our course easier and with quiet smile. :)
ReplyDeleteSedrick, thanks for your comment. Well, I'm not saying its the PROPER way of studying. As what I've said, we still have our ideal way of doing it but sometimes, it doesn't work for all of us. I've just shared my what I've perceived is my own way of doing it. If you can relate with that, then it might also work for you. I'm happy to know that I've inspired someone like you. Study hard and God bless! :)
