Factors that Contribute to Student's Success
During our program "Seniors' Presentation" yesterday, we had a very inspiring and dynamic speaker no other than Dr. Nestor Rilloma. He's a writer and works at Philippine Publishing House (PPH), I wasn't able to take note of his credentials but I can say, he's a man that has something to say. He talked about SUCCESS that's why I became interested and thought that it's something worth sharing. So I took down notes and here's the summary of what he talked about.
According to him, there are components that brought about a STUDENT'S SUCCESS. It is not a single factor but a combination of a lot of factors. Having gone far to what we are now (graduating students), our success were contributed by what he enumerated as the 7 P's. Here are they..
Parental Premonition. It's the desire of every parent to have the best for their children. Parents always want a bright and secured future for their children, thus sending them to school to acquire a proper and good education. It's the parents who always motivates and inspire them to achieve success
Student's Perspiration. It's the students effort and desire to be successful. A student must perspire to achieve their goals. Perspiring means working hard and doing everything (cheating is not included) to get what is due for him.
Teacher's Pedagogy. It's the qualifications and character of a teacher that is necessary in motivating students to aspire for excellence and achieve success. A teacher must have all the skills, strategies, and passion for teaching students.
Peer Participation. It's the need to consult one another to have a better learning experience and effective interactions. Sometimes, in a student life you can complete everything just by yourself and so, help from classmates and friends is always necessary.
Financial Pressure. Maybe not a problem for those who are well-off but a major adversity of majority of us. Not just a burden to the students but of the families as well and also a major obstacle in attaining success especially in education.
Curricular Parameter. It's the perspective of what course or career path you have to take, starting from the first day of school when we decided what journey of life we're going to take and finishing it. It not just starting a course but completing all of the necessary curricular requirements.
Divine Providence. Without God who sees everything from start to end, our efforts and hard work would all put into vain. He's the one who supplies all our needs, hears our prayers, protects us day and night and gives us all the things that we wanted. It's all because of His goodness that we are experiencing success.
Qouting from him, "All requires SACRIFICE. Road to success is not always smooth, it sometimes rough and all we have to do is ENDURE and PERSEVERE". Such a very nice message from our beloved speaker!
He also share ways on how to focus our mind in our upcoming success, (most helpful if you are a graduating student), just check it out in the next blog. :D
