The Nights to Remember

Dedicated for that person who made my life colorful just by being in it for a certain period of time. He was in a long distance relationship and I was in a complicated relationship by the time we got to know more of each other. We became very close for those things we have in common and would spend time together whenever he takes a vacation off from his work abroad. After a few years of being in an LDR and being engaged with his long-time girlfriend, he resigned from his work to make things work for them and take their relationship to the next level. 

By the time he came home to fix his papers so he can be with his fiancée which happened to be in a different country, I was in a moving-on state from the break up of my not so good and complicated relationship. While he was preparing to go, we had a chance to see each other again and spent a few times together as a long-time-no-see friends catching up with the times lost. Considering our situation, We became so attached to each other which ended up on us being in an odd circumstance. So when he finally left to be with his fiancée and settled up for good, I wrote this poem for him to vent out those feelings I haven't got a chance to tell him. 

So here it goes...

The Nights to Remember


Days have passed and I'm still getting through
You are settling now, that's what's good for you
I know you're doing fine, I hope you're happy now
The time is about to come, you'll be a married man

I will forget the pain and pretend we didn't happen
I hope time will quicken, for the feelings to lessen
What is best for you, its what I wish for you 
Crazy as it sounds, but that's what a friend has to do

I couldn't help but remember, the times we spent together
Drinking sprees on the bay, which ended up so cliche
The things we did argue, ideas and religion we also talked into
The road tripping and cuddling, the spatting and swearing

We had a lot of fun and so much to remember
Till dawn we stay together, sitting beside each other
Keeping each other's company and talking endlessly
Laughing out loudly, putting away all our misery

Keeping the feelings aside, it's what I am good at
Needing me at times, I was content with what we had
Having you for a night, that was enough for me
Memories we shared, it should stay as it should be

We didn't say out loud but we both knew in mind
We are the same species, acting strong pretentiously
The pain we feel inside, we are both trying hard to hide
So others wouldn't see, the person we've come to be

We found comfort in each other, at times being together
The need for another, made the attraction stronger
Putting it in a song, we were simply out of tune 
But we sang it together and enjoyed it all along

The feeling was so strong though we knew it was all wrong 
You have a life of your own and I knew we won't be that long 
Someone was out there for you, hoping for a future with you
I was just a passing rainbow, painting colors to your dark hue

You had to walk away, cause it has to be that way
It was wrong for me to say and has no right to make you stay
You're happiness is with her, so you've got to be there
All has worked out fine, all went well according to your plan

Your JOURNEY TO FOREVER, already started with her
The date is approaching, the time for the wedding
Though my heart is hurting, I still wish for you one thing
I hope all for you the best! May you find your happiness

Journey on Quarterlife: Practical ways on dealing with it

In my previous article regarding Quarterlife Crisis , I explained what it is and describe how it feels like being inflicted by it. I also narrated how the journey literally sucked the life out of me. As I contemplate on the experience, on the account of my whole existence, it is so far the lowest I ever had for having lost all hopes and positivity and being consumed by negativity. What Does It Take to be a Home Care Nurse in UAE?

There are times when I think about of giving up, of going back home and just leave this awful place, this company and this job that I've come to bitterly hate every moment I am part of it. Long working hours, no holidays, no day offs, delayed salary, unsympathetic employers and most of all, a caregiving job as what most of clients think of us that we have to endure everyday as home care nurses. To those who doesn't even have the slightest idea, being a nurse working in UAE sounds so grand, the high salary is what the only thing they can think of and being in a foreign country (abroad) is a great accomplishment.
