When I Die
When you die, how would you like to be remembered?
Accept it or not, we are all going to leave this world. We don't know exactly when, if we are to reach an old age or die all of a sudden. Unexpected and crime-related deaths are everywhere, with new set of news of murders, suicides like its just a natural occurrence in society now. Though I wish to reach my golden years, I have no knowledge of what's to come and everything in life is uncertain. I am not wishing for an early death but in our time now, anything is possible. And so it made me think and realize, if I were to die, how would people remember me?
First of all, when I die, I want my loved ones to remember how I care for them. How I love them more than anything in this world and that they should always remember that no matter what. That they should always bear in mind, that I have lived my life to the fullest, I have fulfilled my dreams, I have experienced the beauty of this world, I've got no regrets, I know that I am well-loved and that I am in peace leaving this world.
I want people to remember me as a kind, generous, loving daughter, sister, sister-in-law, niece, granddaughter, aunt, godmother, friend and acquaintance. I may have had some flaws but it's not the description I want them to describe when they talk about me in their eulogy.
For my friends and acquaintances, I want them to remember me for my unique traits, being an old soul, intelligent, adventurous, artistic, deep, light, humorous and bold. A lot of people may not know me personally, but for those whom I had encountered with and had interaction even once, I know they have seen my smiles and heard my laughters, and so that's what I want them to picture me in their mind whenever they remember my name.
And when that time comes, this is the phrase I want to be engraved on my tombstone,
Iris Daphne Gucilatar
"LIVED LIFE TO THE FULLEST"
